One former Brooklyn Nets player has shared a story about LeBron James that gave him a clearer picture of the man behind the public image.
King James has been at the centre of NBA debates for years. Despite his long list of accomplishments, he remains one of the league’s most polarising figures.
Public sentiment really shifted around 2010. That was when LeBron made his decision to join the Miami Heat, a move that turned him from a rising star into one of the league’s most controversial figures.
Years after his departure from Miami, criticism continues to follow him. However, a former NBA player recently offered insight into LeBron’s true character when faced with adversity.
Mirza Teletovic reveals LeBron James tried signing him to Cleveland Cavaliers

Former NBA player Mirza Teletovic recently shared his thoughts on LeBron James on Instagram. Posting in Bosnian, he talked about a time when the basketball icon tried to lend him a hand.
In 2017, following a major health scare, no team was willing to take a chance on Teletovic. But LeBron reached out and offered him an opportunity with the Cavaliers.
“Few people know who King James really is. After my pulmonary embolism, when no one wanted to sign me, he called my agent and offered for me to play with him in Cleveland,” Teletovic revealed.
The condition was so severe that the Milwaukee Bucks released him immediately, and he later retired at the end of that season.
LeBron’s offer was not just rare – it was unique. No other team had come forward with anything similar, making it even more meaningful for Teletovic.
What is even more interesting is that before this happened, the Bosnian player had been known for some hard fouls against LeBron during their time on the court together.
LeBron James approaching the end of his playing days
LeBron once tried to help Mirza Teletovic finish his career on a positive note, but it does not look like the Los Angeles Lakers are planning to do the same for him.
James has been clear about wanting another shot at a championship, and while the Lakers have made some notable moves this summer, it is apparent that their focus has shifted away from him.
Luka Doncic is now the clear priority in Los Angeles, and LeBron is no longer at the centre of their plans. The organisation seems ready to move on from him after this season as they build around their new star.
If this does turn out to be his final year with the Lakers, hopefully, they recognise what he has meant to the game and make sure he gets the kind of send-off he deserves.
