Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United reportedly want to raid Championship rivals Brentford to sign midfielder Romaine Sawyers.

It has been a long time since Romaine Sawyers was threading his trademark through balls into the path of a rampaging Kemar Roofe. But, if Leeds United get their way, these two old friends will be reunited at Elland Road soon enough.
One of the most underrated midfielders in the Championship is a man in demand. Sawyers has shone for Brentford with his creativity, vision and ability to control the tempo of the game apparently putting him on the radar of one of football’s most renowned purists – Leeds coach Marcelo Bielsa.
The Daily Record report that the Kitts and Nevis international, who is valued at £2.5 million, is at the centre of a tug of war between the Whites and Celtic.
And with Sawyers mulling over his future, expect Roofe to be in touch. The 27-year-old midfielder spent two years alongside Leeds’ number seven in the youth system at West Bromwich Albion between 2011 and 2013 after all.

While Sawyers and Roofe never got their chance to play together in The Baggies’ first-team, this already looks like a partnership made in heaven.
Sawyers is at his best when playing perfectly weighted passes into the final third and that suits Roofe, an attacking midfielder converted into a fleet-footed centre-forward, down to the ground.
