Gabby Agbonlahor had a habit of scoring for Aston Villa during their heated clashes against their bitter rivals Birmingham City, including in his last game against the Blues in 2017.

Gabby Agbonlahor has surprisingly claimed on Instagram that when he was 16, Birmingham City ‘tried to poach’ him from his boyhood club Aston Villa.

The now-retired striker came through the ranks at Aston Villa and made his debut as a teenager where he thrived under the stewardship of then-manager Martin O’Neill.

Agbonlahor would write his name into the history books when it came to the Second City derby matches because of his record against the club.

During his career, Agbonlahor would go on to score five goals in seven appearances against the Blues, but he shared on his personal Instagram how they tried to lure him away from B6.

Just like Jack Grealish, there wasn’t going to be a chance in hell that someone like Agbonlahor would even contemplate making a switch to the other side.

Whilst someone like Craig Gardner has done that in recent seasons, he isn’t considered a true Villa fan by the supporters, as he is now playing in the Championship with the Blues.

Nonetheless, Agbonlahor had a habit of putting the ball into the back of the net against Birmingham, especially at St Andrews during the days Villa were pushing for Europe.

It is a scoring record that Grealish has seemingly picked up because last season, he scored both home and away against Villa’s bitter rivals as they picked up six points against their neighbours.

There’s no doubt that Grealish would want to add to his scoring tally against Birmingham, but considering Villa are a division above their rivals, their only chance of meeting one another again is in the cup competitions.
