Aston Villa are currently in the midst of a woeful run of form.

Former Villa striker Garry Thompson was speaking on BBC West Midlands Radio last night, and was highly critical of his former side, suggesting that their is a total absence of team unity – something that was highlighted when Scott Hogan was writhing around in agony on the ground during their loss to Newcastle United on Monday night.
Steve Bruce’s men are currently in a whole world of trouble, sitting precariously in 17th position in the Championship table, just six points clear of 22nd placed Wigan Athletic, with their hopes of a place inside the play-off spots all but a distant dream.
And their most recent defeat, against the Magpies, was symptomatic of how their season has played out thus far, with a lack of any kind of passion, spirit or fight clearly evident.
And Thompson, who scored 17 goals for Villa during a two year spell with the club, highlighted a particular incident that he believes shows just how bad things are at his former club at the moment, when speaking to BBC West Midlands Radio:
“What is driving me mad is that with the Hogan injury, no-one went to him. He has worked his socks off, he has had no support and then when he gets injured no-one goes to him. It took Alan Hutton four minutes to be the first one to go to him. I think Gary Gardner went to him. The rest have just turned their back on him and that for me has summed up what is completely wrong at this football club. Absolutely disgraceful.”

Hogan moved to Villa Park on transfer deadline day last month, and has failed to score during his first four appearances for Steve Bruce’s side.
And he now looks set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines following the ankle injury he sustained on Monday night.
Things just seem to be going form bad to worse for Villa at the moment.
