Villa drew 1-1 at high-flying Brighton on Friday night to extend their unbeaten start under Steve Bruce.

Aston Villa extended their unbeaten start to life under Steve Bruce to six games on Friday night with a pulsating 1-1 draw with high-flying Brighton & Hove Albion at the AMEX.
Villa took the lead in the first half thanks to Nathan Baker’s fine header, but were pegged back on the stroke of half-time by Glenn Murray’s excellent strike.
The hosts then survived a second-half onslaught as Villa’s rising shot and corner counts ultimately could not yield a winner.
It says a lot about the way Bruce has transformed the club in the last few weeks that the travelling supporters will have been disappointed not to come away with a win from the home of the second-placed Championship side.
After the match, former Villa defender McGrath took to Twitter to praise his old side, and admitted that he is thrilled to see the renewed fight and belief from the players.
Meanwhile, ex-midfielder Taylor, a frequenter of the travelling support from time to time, hailed the thousands of fans who made the journey down south.
Though the landscape will undoubtedly have changed by end of the weekend’s games, as it stands the well-earned point takes Villa within touching distance of the top half of the table, and leaves them just four points off a play-off spot.
That is a remarkable improvement after their torrid start to the campaign, and Villa fans will have been given unprecedented belief that they can launch a serious promotion push.
