Tottenham eased to a win over Real Madrid… but not everybody was convinced.
Tottenham Hotspur recorded one of their best results in Europe this week, beating Real Madrid 3-1.
Spurs were 3-0 up before conceding a late consolation to Cristiano Ronaldo, but never really looked in danger against the European champions.
Not quite everybody was convinced… with former Arsenal goalkeeper Graham Stack claiming he believes a couple of key moments going in Real’s favour would have led to a Tottenham loss.
Stack’s comment was treated with disdain on Twitter by Tottenham supporters, who responded critically to the 36-year-old goalkeeper.
Tottenham were written off when the Champions League groups were drawn, after being lumped in with European giants Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.
But in three games against the pair Spurs are unbeaten and have won two of them, and sit top of the group after four matches having sealed qualification already.
The doubters appear to have fired Spurs up, and as tough as it may be for fans on the Red side of North London to admit, like Stack, Tottenham deserve their success.
