Speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, Ian Wright has been dissecting Arsenal’s performance against Crystal Palace on Monday, and he wasn’t impressed by Gabriel Magalhaes.

The Gunners were embarrassed by the Eagles this week as they lost 3-0 to Patrick Vieira’s side, and as you can imagine, there were a few under-par performances.

Nuno Taveres was substituted early on, but Wright picked out Gabriel as one of the worst performers on the day, stating that he looked shaky and awkward at the back.

What’s been said?

Wright spoke about some of Arsenal’s worst performers against Palace.

“There were too many shaky players, I thought Tavares was very shaky and I thought Gabriel was very shaky in the way he was controlling it and passing it, everything was awkward, he just looked awkward, and even to a certain extent Ramsdale, when they were passing it back to him the crowd were right on him,” Wright said.

Pressure is on

Gabriel looked poor against Palace, and the timing may not be coincidental.

We’re heading into the business end of the season and for the first time in years, Arsenal have a real chance of finishing in the top four.

However, Spurs are breathing down their necks, and after Tottenham laid down a marker on Sunday, the pressure was on Arsenal to turn up against Palace.

Unfortunately, it seems as though the pressure got to Gabriel, and he needs to get his head straight as we head into the final furlong of the season.
