England served up another disappointing performance on Sunday evening, labouring to a 1-0 away win over Lithuania in their final 2018 World Cup qualifying game.
The Three Lions booked their place in Russia next summer with a 1-0 home win over Slovenia on Thursday night, with Gareth Southgate’s men turning in an unconvincing display at Wembley Stadium.
Fans were hoping for better in the final group game of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, as an experimental Three Lions side headed to Vilnius to take on Lithuania – but despite a raft of changes, it was much of the same for Southgate and co.

In a 3-4-2-1 system, England failed to really hit top gear, and only claimed a 1-0 win thanks to Harry Kane’s first half penalty, after Spurs team-mate Dele Alli had been fouled inside the area.
England looked for a second without ever really looking like scoring again, and Southgate still has huge questions to ask about his lethargic side ahead of the World Cup.
Southgate’s experimenting led to a first senior England cap for Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks, who started alongside Jordan Henderson in central midfield, and arguably looked better than the Liverpool ace.

Winks, 21, has barely established himself at Tottenham, but is now in line for a World Cup spot after a bright performance in Vilnius, which sparked a positive reaction from fans on Twitter.
Some raved about Winks by stating that he is everything people have wanted Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere to become, praising him as England’s best player despite it being just his first appearance.
Others praised Mauricio Pochettino for helping develop Winks, hailing him as a real talent and potentially more important to the England side than Spurs team-mate Eric Dier.
