Tony Cascarino has told talkSPORT (14/11/20 at 7:30 am) that Tottenham striker Harry Kane only has two weaknesses to his game – a lack of pace and being injury-prone.

The former Republic of Ireland international did sympathise with him on the latter because he feels a lot of his injuries are down to the ‘incredible effort’ he puts into a game.

Kane staying away from the treatment room this season could play a big part in how well Spurs do this season, especially their quest to win a trophy.

Cascarino was full of praise for England’s main man and he shared his thoughts when asked about the weaknesses in his game.

“The only thing you can say that he hasn’t got in abundance is being really quick,” said Cascarino. “Everything else is top level. Great attitude. Always with desire and hunger that sometimes got him injured.

“If he gets to 33 and he’s still playing for England and still playing top-flight football then he will beat all records, without a doubt. I think he has a standout attitude that very few have had and apart from the pace I cannot think of a weakness in his game. He’s just not blisteringly quick. He is a strong runner.

On being injury-prone another weakness: “Yes, he’s going to get injured because he plays the game where he makes an incredible effort to close people down. Some of the ankle injuries, especially one at the Tottenham stadium a couple of years back, where he closed down the fullback and when he got to the fullback he got himself injured.”

When it comes to pace there is no doubt that in the game of football it is overrated and it does paper over cracks for some players.

A player could have poor first touch, indifferent technique and inconsistent final ball, but his pace would most of the time paper over those lack of qualities and make them look that bit better.

But from Kane’s perspective, he has all of those above in bucket loads and there is a reason why he is scoring and assisting for fun this season.
