Neil Razor Ruddock has claimed that Newcastle will get relegated this season despite being ‘everyone’s second team’, as he told the All to Play For Podcast.

The former Liverpool man also added that with Eddie Howe’s appointment you really want to be ‘the next manager of Newcastle’ rather than the current one.

Even though it took a while, Newcastle eventually announced during the international break that Howe was their new manager.

The former Bournemouth boss is tasked with guiding the Magpies down this new era, where they have ambitious owners and a stack full of money to go with it.

But along with Norwich and Burnley, Ruddock thinks it’s going to be a struggle for those in the North East.

“I think they are everyone’s second team,” said Ruddock. “Their fans are lovely. What a stadium to play at.

“It’s a tough one (on them staying up). You have got Norwich, Newcastle and Burnley are struggling.

“I think with Newcastle and Eddie Howe, you want to be the next manager of Newcastle. I think Newcastle struggle. I fancy Burnley as well (to go down).”

Newcastle heading to the Championship would be an utter disaster for the club and one that would cause chaos.

The advantage that they have on those teams around them is the ability to seriously dip into the market in January and make changes.

Of course, Howe will be hoping he doesn’t have to resort to such measures and he can get the team climbing up the table before then.

And he will be looking to kick things off by trying to help Newcastle to their first league win of the season at home to Brentford at the weekend.
