Darren Bent has backed Arsenal to beat Tottenham in the North London derby on Sunday, as he told the United View.
The former Spurs striker, who is a boyhood Arsenal fan, claimed that ‘everyone was laughing’ at Mikel Arteta’s side at the start of the season.
Arsenal went into the last international break, sitting bottom, with no wins, no points, no goals and three defeats to their name.
But heading into the weekend showdown against their rivals, the tide has slightly turned.
Spurs have lost back-to-back London derbies – both 3-0 – and questions are being asked about their players, style and manager.
But, just like Arsenal on Wednesday night, they both progressed through to the next round of the EFL Cup.
It’s been a mixed start to the campaign for both clubs, but Bent is backing his team to get the points at the Emirates.
“I think we will get the results against Spurs, I really do,” said Bent. “Everyone was laughing at Arsenal at the start of the season about we couldn’t win a game.
“Now, Spurs are like this (going on a downward spiral) and we are doing this (on the up).
“I think we will win. I think it will be tough. Arsenal, certainly last season, we did alright against them – I am going to go for 3-1.”

A certain Harry Kane likes a goal in a North London derby, but he is yet to find the back of the net in the Premier League this term.
Perhaps those in Arsenal will be fearing that the inevitable will happen – Kane scoring from the penalty spot on Sunday.
What also helps the England captain is that he scored against Wolves on Wednesday night, so that’s some much-needed confidence for him.
Either way, like always, the North London derby is going to be one tasty affair and action-packed affair.
