Dan Burn has been speaking to Newcastle ahead of the Premier League clash against his former side Brighton on Saturday.

In what was a funny moment, the £13m man commented on his relationship with Ryan Fraser at St James’ Park.

What’s the story?

Well, since Burn arrived at Newcastle from Brighton in January, he has spent a lot of time standing alongside the 5ft 4in Fraser.

There is a hilarious size difference between the pair, and the towering centre-back was asked if he and the 28-year-old have been doing it deliberately.

The 6ft 7in man said: “I love Ryan, he’s a great guy. We’re doing it because that’s what the fans want, and we’ve picked up some good results so I think we’re always going to keep doing that. It’s added a bit of comedy and everyone loves it.”

Since the 29-year-old arrived on Tyneside, he hasn’t actually been involved in a defeat yet, so him and Fraser should definitely keep the gig up – for superstitious reasons more than anything.

It provides some lightheartedness around Newcastle during a tense fight against relegation, and clearly, everyone loves it.

The Magpies are currently seven games unbeaten in the Premier League – that is largely thanks to Burn and Fraser.

Since Eddie Howe arrived, Fraser has improved significantly under his former Bournemouth manager.

The Scotland international scored a crucial goal in the 3-1 win over Everton, and also provided an assist in the 2-0 win over Brentford.

In Burn’s case, the Magpies have kept two clean sheets in his three Premier League outings, with the other game being a respectable 1-1 draw against West Ham.

They may not carry the glitz and glamour of signings like Bruno Guimarães and Kieran Trippier, although the pair have clearly made a huge impact on Tyneside.
