Crystal Palace captain and teammate of in-demand winger Wilfried Zaha believes that everyone in football knows just how talented the young English winger is.

Zaha has started the season in blistering form for the Eagles, pitching in with both a goal and an assist in Palace’s 2-1 win over Middlesbrough at the weekend.

The skillful young winger was also linked with a potential £12 million move to Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur – leading to current Palace manager Alan Pardew slapping a £50 million price tag on his talented young asset.

After his impressive performances over the opening few weeks of the new Premier League season, teammate and Eagles club captain Dann was quick to sing the praises of his in-form compatriot.

“Everyone knows how good a player he is,” Dann told the Croydon Advertiser. “”There was a little bit of interest in him and that happens in the transfer window.

“It’s never ideal when it’s open and the season had started, but he never did anything different.”

Amidst the speculation surrounding his future over the summer, some fans had questioned whether or not Zaha was mentally ready to give his all for the club once again.

After turning in yet another impressive performance for the club, however, Dann was again quick to dismiss this idea, and reaffirmed his belief in the winger to keep on improving, and performing on a regular basis.

“Wilf [Zaha] has carried on working hard, he came on in the last game against Bournemouth and changed the game, then at Middlesbrough he popped up with an important assist and a goal.

“We know what he’s capable of and he’s still got a lot to improve on. He can still be better but hopefully now everything has settled he can go on and show what he can do.”

After securing their first win of the season against Middlesbrough at the weekend, Palace are next in action against bottom-of-the-table Stoke, who face a trip to Selhurst Park on Sunday afternoon.
