Gabby Agbonlahor says in-demand Brentford striker Ivan Toney won’t join Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal or Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur, but instead join Mauricio Pochettno’s Chelsea.

The former Premier League striker thinks money will play a big role, as he feels that Arsenal will have to ‘sell someone’ to land the signature of the currently banned player.

Agbonlahor also feels that Tottenham, who have made an unbeaten start to the new Premier League season, ‘won’t be able to match’ what Chelsea put on the table for Ivan Toney, as he told talkSPORT (26/09/23 at 6:30 am).

It just so happens to be that Ivan Toney can return to the field again for Brentford on January 17, which provides interested parties the ample chance to sign him, that’s if Brentford are willing to let him go.

And going by Thomas Franks’ comments recently, they are willing to sell their star striker, but they want top dollar for him.

Before his ban, there were many plaudits heading the way of the England international, including Andros Townsend claiming last September that he has ‘everything’ and is ‘strong’.

Who signs Ivan Toney?

“Arsenal had to get Raya on loan because of FFP, so they can’t afford him,” said Agbonlahor. “Everyone is talking about Arsenal, so they have to sell someone to get him.

“We have seen what Chelsea offers with their financial packages. Spurs won’t be able to match Chelsea, so I see him going to Chelsea (to sign Ivan Toney).”

Who needs Ivan Toney more? Chelsea? Arsenal? or Spurs?

In terms of performances on the pitch, or lack of it, the simple answer is Chelsea. They haven’t scored in their last three games and they are sitting in the Premier League’s bottom-half.

But Tottenham, who just wanted to get back into Europe this term, will argue that they can do much better with the services of Toney.

Whilst their neighbours will also put the case forward that, if they are challenging for the title in January, then Toney can provide them with that magic touch in the winter to help push them over the line.
