Speaking on PLZ Soccer, Gordon Strachan has been speaking about Celtic and Leeds United supporters and how friendly each fanbase is.

Leeds and Celtic fans can sometimes get something of a bad press due to small sections of their fanbase or the fierce rivalries they have with their neighbours.

However, if you’re associated with either club, you’re a part of the family, and as Strachan knows, you’ll be treated as such.

The Scot says that no matter where in the world he goes he’ll always bump into a Celtic or a Leeds fan and they’re always incredibly friendly to him.

What’s Strachan said?

Strachan spoke about the fact that he always gets a warm reception when meeting a Celtic or a Leeds fan no matter where he is in the world.

“No matter where I go in the world, I meet someone who is Celtic, they say you’ll never walk alone, and you don’t really. No matter where I go, because I’m distinctive, I meet people, that’s a huge bonus from it,” Strachan said.

“It’s a great thing, it’s similar to the Scotland thing, you can make a nation happy and you can disappoint them as well. With Celtic, the fact is, no matter where I go in the world, everyone is so friendly, and if I don’t meet a Celtic supporter, I meet a Leeds fan and I’m so lucky that I can do that.”

Footballing community

Strachan’s comments here just show why football is known as the beautiful game.

No matter where you are in the world and who you are with, if you both like football, you can strike up a conversation, and if you both support the same team, it’s even better.

Celtic and Leeds are two incredibly passionate fanbases that are represented across the world, and we can imagine a legend like Strachan gets adulation no matter where he goes.
