Diego Forlan has been critical of Uruguay and World Cup star Darwin Nunez by stating ‘everybody was expecting more’ from him at Liverpool, as he told talkSPORT on Thursday morning.
The legendary forward thinks, given the money Liverpool paid for his fellow countryman, perhaps more was expected from the player in terms of goals.
The 23-year-old has nine goals in 18 games in all competitions this season for the Reds, including netting a brace against Southampton prior to Premier League football being halted for the 2022 World Cup.

Given that Nunez was suspended in between for his red card against Crystal Palace, added with the fact that he has joined a Liverpool team struggling this season, then it’s been a better start than most think.
But Forlan feels, with the ‘great’ Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp by his side, then Nunez will ‘improve’ in the future.
“I think it’s good,” said Forlan. “Of course, everybody was expecting more goals, maybe because of the amount of money they paid for him.
“But I think it’s really good. He’s scoring goals. He’s playing, it’s difficult and now the team is also struggling a little bit because in the Premier League they aren’t doing what they were doing in the last couple of years.
“But he has a great manager. Very experienced. He will learn a lot with him, and also with the players, so I think he’s doing his job. Of course, he can improve and he will improve in the future.”

NUNEZ HARSHLY TREATED
It seems as though the price-tag on Nunez’s head, added to Erling Haaland’s ridiculous start in the billion-pound-built Manchester City team, has seen Nunez receive harsh treatment.
Every time he is out on the pitch, he is causing problems, making Liverpool’s attacking play come to life, and proving to be a nuisance to the opposition.
He is only a few months into his new life on Merseyside, given the small pockets of quality he has shown, when that rawness to his game because refined, then he will become scarily good.
