Pep Guardiola has raved about reported Liverpool and Manchester City target Erling Haaland on Sky Sports.

The Borussia Dortmund star is one of the best strikers in the world and has been linked with both Liverpool and City.

Mundo Deportivo reported this month that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is so keen on the Norway international striker that he is willing to sell Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino or Sadio Mane to bring him to Anfield.

The Daily Mail reported this month that City are emerging as favourites for the 20-year-old, who is also on the radar of Chelsea and Real Madrid.

City will face Dortmund in the quarter-finals of the Champions League this season, and Guardiola has said that he knows just how good the 20-year-old striker is.

Guardiola told Sky Sports about Haaland: “The numbers speak for itself. Of course he is one of the best strikers in the world right now, at his age.

“I saw a few games, honestly I didn’t have much time but I saw the highlights, and the numbers in the Champions League and the league is impressive. I know the quality of this player. Everybody knows.”

Transfer tussle

Haaland is banging in the goals for fun, both in the Bundesliga and in the Champions League, and Dortmund may not be able to keep hold of him for much longer.

With Sergio Aguero out of contract at the end of the season, City could do with a striker of Haaland’s quality and potential.

Liverpool have a strong front-three, but with Roberto Firmino not at his best and Sadio Mane not having the best of seasons, manager Klopp could do with someone like Haaland who is a pure goalscorer and would make his attacking unit better.

Haaland has scored 19 goals and provided four assists in the Bundesliga and has scored 10 goals and given one assist in the Champions League for Dortmund so far this season, according to WhoScored.
