Rio Ferdinand has stated that Frank Lampard’s early training sessions at Everton have been ‘very positive’, as he told Vibe with Five.

The former centre-back added that ‘everybody’ at Everton feels ‘rejuvenated’ and ‘happy’.

It has been a pretty busy week for those in Everton colours, with two big names arriving on deadline day in Donny van de Beek and Dele Alli.

Whilst Lampard was also confirmed as Rafa Benitez’s replacement during the chaotic deadline day transfers.

Nonetheless, as the days pass by, Lampard and his coaching staff are starting to get comfortable at Finch Farm.

As Ferdinand shared what training has been like for those Everton players under the legendary midfielder.

“The reports out of the first training session have been very positive,” said Ferdinand. “Everybody has been rejuvenated. Happy. Looking forward to what is going on.

“It looks very promising there. But their first league game is Newcastle away. It’s a huge game in the Premier League. A massive game.”

On one hand, a difficult task does await Lampard because this isn’t a case of sorting out a mess that has brewed under one manager or one season.

But several years of stagnating, ridiculous amount of money spent, countless managers walking through the doors and all of it now needing to be sorted.

If the Toffees can get off to a strong start under Lampard, then it will ease the early pressure on him and then allow him to use the rest of the campaign like a long but competitive version of pre-season.

Everton aren’t getting into Europe, and if they pull away during these next few weeks, then there shouldn’t be any fear of relegation either, so that’s when Lampard can properly assess his squad.
