Jamie Mackie lauded Lucas Moura’s performance as a ‘bright spark’ during Tottenham’s 1-0 League Cup win against Burnley on Wednesday night, as he told Soccer Special on Sky Sports.
The Sky pundit claimed that ‘every time’ he watches Moura in action, the flying Tottenham winger ‘has a go’ and makes something happen.
Moura didn’t actually start the game, but after 25 minutes, he was called into action after Bryan Gil picked up an injury.
During that first period, Tottenham’s performance was a little lacklustre, timid in their play and no energy going forward.
But when Emerson Royal produced one moment of magic in the second half, his pin-point cross was met with a well-timed downward header from Moura that Harry Kane would have been proud of.
Ex-QPR and Nottingham Forest man Mackie was full of praise for Moura and how he was seemingly the difference last night.
“The subs have made a difference,” said Mackie. “After the goal, they carried on, on the front foot.
“They are actually pushing for another. It’s that man, Lucas Moura again. He finds himself in really good positions. He sort of drifts across the front three.
“A lot of good things, since he came on, a lot of good things have come through him.
“He has been a bright spark as they have had tonight. He’s busy. Every time I watch him, Moura, he has a go. In every game, he is always trying to make things happen. He certainly did that tonight, in what has been a pretty slow game to watch.”

On one hand, Spurs are picking up the results and doing the business, both in the Premier League and in the cup competitions.
But the problem facing Nuno Espirito Santo is the manner in which the team is performing.
There is a fear that, down the line, their lack of intent and creative qualities will hurt them.
But they do need to remember, Spurs are sitting in the top six and their name is the hat for the next round of the League Cup, all without their star striker Harry Kane, really making his mark on the new campaign.
