Gareth Southgate has shared that Tottenham’s Harry Kane wants to play ‘every minute’ for England.
The Three Lions boss added that Kane’s want to play ‘every game’ when coming on national duty is a ‘brilliant quality’ to have, as he told his press conference.
Given that England played a friendly on Saturday, with Kane going off towards the end of the game and they are due to do the same against Ivory Coast on Tuesday night.
Then the Tottenham faithful will be hoping their star man is rested somewhat because of the non-competitive matches that England are playing.
It seems as though Southgate is hinting at Kane possibly being rested or not playing as much as he did during the win over Switzerland, which Spurs fans will like.
“If he had his way, then he would play 90 minutes of every fixture,” said Southgate.
“Which is a brilliant quality to have because, if your captain wants to be at every camp, playing every minute of every game, then that sets the tone for everything else.
“The fact is that we have a good squad. We want to keep people involved and give people opportunities, then we need to see certain things across the week and how people can play at the level.
“So, we will make all those decisions as to when he will play and when he doesn’t play.”
The international break never goes down well with supporters, especially when they are friendly games.
The UEFA Nations League was brought in for friendly matches to be thrown out of the window.
But, somehow, they are still played and club supporters are more worried about their players getting injured than playing.
With the final few months of the season remaining, Tottenham are pushing for Champions League football and they are going to need all their star players fit and healthy for a potential dramatic ending to the season.
