Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said on the club’s YouTube channel that Takumi Minamino is improving every day.

Klopp made the comments about Minamino while explaining his options in attack for Liverpool.

The Japan international, who can play as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, was linked with a move to Leeds United in the January transfer window.

However, the 27-year-old stayed at Liverpool, and manager Klopp is pleased with his progress.

Jurgen Klopp on Liverpool’s Takumi Minamino

Klopp told Liverpool’s YouTube channel about Minamino, as transcribed by RousingTheKop: “We’ve never had this squad available.

“Now we have it available – these players are all here for a while already. We have so many top developments individually.

“Just as an example, Taki Minamino has played more than 50 games for Liverpool and is getting better every day. But it’s not easy to be a starter in this team.”

Tough

In our view, it is going to be tough for Minamino to get much playing time at Liverpool now.

Liverpool signed Luis Diaz from FC Porto in the January transfer window.

The winger has made a good impression at Liverpool already.

Teenage winger Harvey Elliott is also back from injury.

Minamino has made nine substitute appearances in the Premier League, two starts in the Champions League, and four starts in the Carabao Cup for Liverpool so far this season.

We think that Liverpool fans should not be surprised if Minamino leaves Anfield in the summer of 2022.

After all, the Japanese attacker will surely want to play regular first-team football, and he is not going to get that at Liverpool.
