Everton reportedly want to sign Kurt Zouma permanently.
Everton boss Marco Silva is reported to be keen to sign Kurt Zouma permanently, the Liverpool Echo report.
Zouma is on a season long loan from Chelsea. He has started 20 out of 27 Premier League games.
Everton will not be pleased to hear then that Maurizio Sarri is fighting for his job at Chelsea.
The Times report Sarri has one week to save his job, with Chelsea facing Manchester City and Tottenham, amid supporter unrest after two big defeats.
Sarri had made clear that Zouma was not part of his plans by sending the centre-back out on loan.
Zouma will be encouraged by his time at Everton and the fact the Toffees want him permanently.
Just don’t rule out his desire to attend to unfinished business at Chelsea.
He was quoted by Reuters in August saying: “I will go back, yes. I have always believed in myself since I started playing football at 16. I have always wanted to show myself at Chelsea since I have been there.
“I want to show people I can come back and play there. That’s why I need some game time at Everton here because they are a good team.”
A new manager will mean a fresh start for Zouma at Everton. Especially with Gary Cahill’s spell at Stamford Bridge winding down.
Everton manager Marco Silva is hardly immune to being replaced himself, after an alarming start to 2019.
Zouma’s future is far from cut and dry, and expect no decisions to be taken until well into the summer.
