Everton’s Ademola Lookman scores
Ademola Lookman made an immediate impression for Everton when he scored against Manchester City, and the strike was just a glimpse of what he may be able to offer in the future.
Lookman was a January signing from League One side Charlton Athletic, when he became the most expensive youngster ever bought from England’s third tier.
Everton beat a host of competition from clubs for his signature, and director of football Steve Walsh has been speaking highly about him.
Explaining the move to Everton’s official website this week, Walsh says that he made his mind up about Lookman immediately.
He said: “I saw him against Oldham Athletic for Charlton, and never changed my mind on him.
“He’s got two feet. He’s not one of those people who shifts it to his stronger foot to finish. He has an eye for goal.
“He looks to get his shots off, he does things that are unusual, he tries to find a yard with his first touch. Has a little pace.
“There are things we’d like him to add to his game but he’s a young kid who has stepped up two leagues and so it’ll take him time.”
Lookman has found it a little tougher since his first goal, and has not managed to net since.
He has managed to get three starts under his belt and has three appearances off the bench in total, and is picking up invaluable experience.
Walsh is excited about him, and given his successful track record of buying players, that should be good enough for Everton fans to share the same feelings too.
