Everton took on Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend and found themselves outplayed, despite the scoreline suggesting different in a 3-2 loss.
Spurs were the better team throughout the game and Everton struggled to get any sort of foothold on the fixture.
It was a tough experience for many of the Everton players, but especially young midfielder Tom Davies.
The 18-year-old has been a revelation in the Everton first-team this season under Ronald Koeman but he found himself out of his depth in this tie.
He still popped up in some dangerous areas and completed some delightful passes, but he struggled physically. For a slight 18-year-old, coming up against the physical prowess of Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele was always going to be difficult and he simply did not have the answers to escape his opponents and was eventually subbed off.

For the teenager he should view this as a learning curve. He is still an exceptional talent and as long as he learns from these experiences he can go on to become an Everton star.
There will be plenty more games like this to come, but better days are plentiful in Davies’ future.
