Everton defender Ramiro Funes-Mori played for the Toffees’ development side and impressed.

Funes-Mori has been out since the start of the season with injury, but is closing in on his return now.
The Argentine defender came in Everton’s under-23 side, for their most recent match against Barnsley, and he helped them pick up a 1-0 victory.

And Unsworth feels that Funes-Mori is starting to hit form again now.
“I think that was Funes back to a bit of form,” said Unsworth. “He struggled against Arsenal the other week [a 4-0 defeat on 5 February], but obviously that was his first run-out. Today was a commanding performance. He looked the part.”
Unsworth’s comments should alert Allardyce, as Everton’s defence has been so poor this season.

Everton may have beaten Crystal Palace 3-1 in their most recent outing, but Allardyce’s defence still didn’t look particularly sturdy.
Eliaquim Mangala has made a very difficult start to life at Goodison Park, since signing on loan from Manchester City.
And if Unsworth feels that Funes-Mori is ready to start again, Allardyce should consider putting him back into Everton’s team.
