Toffees midfielder Ross Barkley sat down for an exclusive interview with Sky Sports, and explained how he now carries a weight of responsibility with him amongst the Everton squad, and shared how he tries to help the likes of Tom Davies as they look to establish themselves in the first-team.

The 18-year-old midfielder burst on the scene at Goodison Park at the end of last season, but he has really come to the fore this term, looking every inch the Premier League star during his 13 appearances in all competitions thus far for Ronald Koeman’s side.

It was a position that Barkley himself was in not too long ago, and he has experienced many highs and lows throughout his still fledgling career so far.

And the 23-year-old shared how he uses his own experiences in the game to help Davies, as the youngster continues to rise through the ranks on Merseyside, when speaking exclusively to Sky Sports:

“Obviously I’m a little bit older now and over the years, I’ve got a lot of games under my belt in the first team. So I’m feeling more responsibility. “I have just told him to keep doing what he’s doing. I haven’t given him much advice other than to say that I’m here if he wants to ask me anything, because a couple of years ago I was in his shoes.”

Barkley and co head to White Hart Lane to take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League tomorrow.

The highly-anticipated clash is a hugely important one for the Blues as they look to continue their charge towards a place inside the top four.
