After being purchased for big bucks by Everton last summer, Richarlison proved his worth in his first season at Goodison Park, as he will be looking to take his game to a new level when the new Premier League season kicks off in August.

Richarlison has opened up about his struggles in his first year in England, as the Brazilian attacker is now thriving at Everton under Marco Silva.

The 22-year-old moved to Watford as a teenager in 2017, when Silva was in charge of the Vicarage Road club. He joined as an unknown figure but impressed in the opening stages of the season before fading away.

Despite those struggles, when Silva was appointed Everton manager, he signed the highly-rated attacker for £50 million [BBC Sport] and he has since taken his game to another level.

Richarlison openly spoke about his first year in England as he admitted that it was ‘really complicated’, as he also mentioned the things that kept him going.

“The first year in England was really complicated,” Richarlison told France Football, as quoted by the Mirror. “I couldn’t adapt to the temperature. On the pitch, my legs were shaking, my ears were burning.

“My culinary culture is so different from English cuisine that I really can’t get used to what we eat here. When I arrived at Watford, I lost about five pounds because I didn’t like local food. There is a lot of friendliness and people are educated. And then the girls are very pretty!”

The 2019/20 Premier League campaign is going to be an even bigger one for Richarlison and Everton as they search for European football.

Whilst the Toffees seemingly search for an out-and-out striker to put the ball into the back of the net on a regular basis, Richarlison will also play his part in taking his team to the next level.
