Everton are reportedly keen on Galatasaray winger Garry Rodrigues.
With Everton struggling for form under manager Sam Allardyce, the attention is already turning to the summer transfer window, with links emerging to one exciting winger.
The Toffees continue to lose away from home, as seen with the 1-0 defeat at Watford on Saturday afternoon, and whilst Allardyce’s position may already be in doubt, more spending on new signings could take place.
The most recent link comes from Turkish newspaper Fotomac, who report that Everton have been scouting Galatasaray wide man Garry Rodrigues ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Cape Verde international, 27, has notched six goals and eight assists in an impressive campaign for Galatasaray, with five goals and five assists coming in his last ten games after a stunning run of form.
Newcastle United have been pursuing Rodrigues for the last six months, but Everton are now joining the race according to reports, with Galatasaray bumping up the asking price to around €20million (£17.5million).
Whilst the speedy winger would add some much-needed pace to what has been a fairly slow Everton attack this season, targeting another player from Turkey would be something of a surprise given Cenk Tosun’s struggles with the club.
Tosun, 26, had also been a sensation in Turkish football but has failed to impress since joining Everton from Besiktas last month, with manager Allardyce noting that the striker must adapt to the Premier League and make the step up from Turkish to English football.
Rodrigues – whose previous clubs include Levski Sofia, Elche and PAOK – would therefore face the same step up in class, and whilst a full pre-season would be a major boost, splashing £17.5million on a winger with a limited track record coming from a division which Everton have already had issues with this year could be a major gamble.
