Everton’s reported £4.5m pursuit of Frank Fabra may hint at key Moshiri plans

Everton are being strongly linked with Frank Fabra.

One of the most important things for Everton to achieve this summer is the signing of a new left back, having somehow gone through much of the season with major problems there.

Leighton Baines has struggled with injuries this term as he approaches his mid 30’s, which has left Cuco Martina to – unconvincingly – fill in at left back for much of this season.

Everton bizarrely didn’t sign a left back last summer or in January, and reports now suggest that they are already homing in on a new left back for next season.

Futbolete in Colombia report that Everton are hoping to sign Boca Juniors left back Frank Fabra before this summer’s World Cup, as he will be featuring for Colombia, with CalcioNapoli24 suggesting that a £4.5million move has already been agreed.

Fabra could be heading to Goodison Park, handing Everton a strong, pacy and dangerous attack-minded left back – and it could also hint at Farhad Moshiri’s plans.

The Mirror reported last week that majority shareholder Moshiri wants to bring in PSV Eindhoven’s transfer guru Marcel Brands to replace Steve Walsh, and he is certainly familiar with Fabra.

Eindhovens Dagblad reported in February that Brands attempted to bring Fabra to the Dutch giants, but missed out on a January deal as PSV couldn’t land a new left back.

Everton’s strong pursuit of Fabra may just hint that Moshiri target Brands really is heading to Merseyside this summer, and the 27-year-old Colombian international may just be his first Everton target.
