The Toffees have been chasing the Italian international for some time.
Everton’s deal to sign Napoli star Manolo Gabbiadini has been agreed by all parties and is only being held up by the Serie A club’s desire to find a replacement before sanctioning a sale, according to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Ronald Koeman has been looking for another high-quality attacker to bring in to compete with and support main man Romelu Lukaku in attack, and it is easy to see why Gabbiadini fits the bill.
He is a full Italian international, has time on his side at the age of just 24, boasts an impressive scoring record at both Napoli and Sampdoria before that, and is highly versatile.
Gabbiadini can play as an out-and-out striker, as a number 10 off the main frontman, as a central attacking midfielder, or on either wing.
The Toffees have been linked with his signing for a number of weeks, and after lengthy discussions all aspects of the deal have now been agreed by both clubs and the player himself, according to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli via La Gazzetta.
However, the report does claim that completion of the deal is being held up as Napoli want to have secured their own replacement for the forward before they allow him to leave.
Napoli have already signed Poland international star Arkadiusz Milik this summer but have a number of targets for a second forward, the foremost of whom is reportedly Genoa striker Leonardo Pavoletti, although the striker’s club insist he will not be sold.
The report claims that the deal for Gabbiadini, if it does go through, will cost Everton in the region of £21 million.
