The Everton midfielder has looked impressive in recent weeks but needs to maintain that form.
It may have taken a while, but Everton fans finally saw the best of midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin when the Toffees overcame Newcastle United earlier this month.
The Frenchman has been a shadow of his former self on the field for years now, yet his outing against the Magpies, coupled with a 45-minute showing against Liverpool in the Merseyside derby, suggested Everton fans should not write the player off after all.
The issue now is consistency, with Everton manager Sam Allardyce needing his players to perform week in, week out, and their upcoming clash with Swansea City is a game Schneiderlin really should be bossing.
At his best, the 28-year-old can be one of the Premier League’s most impressive box-to-box midfielders and that is what he needs to show in the months ahead, especially when you consider he was signed for £24million from Manchester United (as reported by the BBC).
In so doing, he could not only save his Everton career but fire the Toffees back into the upper echelons of the division and ensure he is remembered as far more than a pricey flop.
Swansea are currently bottom of the table and they are the kind of opponents Schneiderlin should relish coming up against, bossing the match from the outset and proving that, while it took far longer than anyone envisaged, he can be an Everton hero after all.
