Theo Walcott hasn’t started a game for Everton in the Premier League this season.
Marco Silva has admitted to The Echo that Everton winger Theo Walcott is unhappy, but claims that he’ll bounce back when he’s given the chance to.
The Toffees boss dropped Walcott from the squad entirely for the win over Wolves prior to the international break.
The former Arsenal star, who joined Everton for £20 million in the winter of 2018 [The Telegraph], is yet to start a Premier League game under Silva this season, though the Portuguese manager did bring him back into the squad for the clash with Bournemouth last weekend.
Thirteen of Walcott’s 37 league outings last season were as a substitute and although Silva admits that the England international is frustrated, he believes that his attacker is professional enough to take his next chance with both hands.
He told The Echo: “Theo is unhappy, he has to be unhappy, like Tom or whoever. Theo has to be unhappy but after that you have different ways to react.
“Of course, he was not happy but what I can tell you is that when the chance comes to him again he will be ready because of the way he works. He is an example for some of the others to look at.”
Walcott, who has managed only 48 minutes in the Premier League this season, will be hoping to add to his game time this weekend when Silva’s side host Sheffield United.
