Everton won’t be moving for Hirving Lozano unless he comes down in price.

Director of Football of Everton Marcel Brands attends the pre-season friendly match between Everton and Valencia at Goodison Park on August 4, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

Everton director of football Marcel Brands’ comments to the Liverpool Echo on Hirving Lozano look exciting, as they may suggest that big names are on the Toffees’ radar.

Everton have been heavily linked with PSV winger Lozano in recent times.

However, Brands claims that there is no way that they will pay his current asking price.

“Of course Lozano and Bergwijn are interesting players, but €30m for Hirving and €20m for Steven, we will not pay that,” Brands said.

“If Lozano would cost €20m, I would consider it, but at higher amounts we look at players who have already proven it in the Premier League or in another big league.”

For Brands to make such comments Everton must, therefore, have their eyes on targets who are experienced at high levels.

The Toffees seem to have moved away from the market of taking expensive gambles, and now are looking for more proven players to invest in.

Lozano could have been a very exciting addition, but Brands’ current strategy looks far more safe.

And Brands’ latest comments may just suggest that some high profile targets could be on Everton’s radar in the future.
