Everton star Lucas Digne sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, after his injury time heroics earned his side a valuable point against Watford last night, and shared what he told his teammate Richarlison before whipping a free-kick into the top corner.

The 25-year-old joined the Toffees from Barcelona in the summer, for a fee believed to be worth somewhere in the region of £18 million, and he has really impressed thus far, racking up 14 Premier League appearances, and keeping Leighton Baines out fo the team in the process.

Everton now sit in seven spot in the table, just two points adrift of sixth place, so Digne’s equaliser last night might just turn out to be a really important one.

The Frenchman spoke to reporters after the draw with Watford, and shared what he told Richardson before salvaging a point for his team, as quoted by the club’s official website:

Lucas Digne (R) of Everton kicks the ball during the Premier League match between Everton and Newcastle United at Goodison Park on December 5, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

“I believed I could score and said to Richie [Richarlison] to leave me the free-kick. I am happy to score the goal but I would have preferred to win. We needed to take responsibility and I wanted to take responsibility for the free-kick.”

Next up for Everton is a trip to Manchester City on Saturday, and Digne and co will have to be on their very best form, if they are to have any chance whatsoever of leaving the Etihad with a positive result to show for their efforts.
