Everton took on Tottenham Hotspur today in the Premier League and came out of the game empty-handed.
The Toffees were outplayed throughout and the 3-2 scoreline flattered Ronald Koeman’s men.
But once again the performance and result highlighted a major fault from Koeman in the transfer market. Why did Everton not buy a top-class ‘keeper in the summer or January?
Joel Robles has established himself as the number one after the continually erratic performances of Maarten Stekelenburg in between the sticks.
But the Spaniard will feel he could have done better with the Harry Kane opener and was certainly at fault for his second, after rolling the ball into the danger zone at Morgan Schneiderlin’s feet.
Everton spent money in both the summer and winter and there were numerous goalkeeping options available to the club.

However, Koeman stuck by his current pair who are nowhere near the quality of the goalkeepers currently in the top six.
If Everton are to have realistic aspirations of making it into the top four in the years to come then a top quality keeper must be their main priority going forward.
