Everton have been chasing Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma for much of the transfer window so far.

Everton’s hopes of signing Kurt Zouma are surely over once and for all, with Arsenal set to sign David Luiz from Chelsea.
The Daily Mail report that Luiz is set to leave Chelsea today, which looks like bad news for Everton.
Chelsea are operating under a transfer ban, so know that they cannot go out and buy a replacement for Zouma if they let him join Everton.
However, the Toffees still had some hope that Zouma, who spent last season on loan at Goodison Park, would return as they were offering a big fee.

The writing seems to be on the wall for the transfer now though, as Chelsea simply cannot afford to let Zouma leave now Luiz has gone.
Chelsea would be left far too short at the back if two of their central defenders departed on deadline day.
And Everton are now almost certainly going to have to look elsewhere, as Marco Silva looks to bring in another centre-back.
