Everton take on the Canaries in the EFL Cup later this month.
Everton have some very promising young players in their ranks and one of the best could be set for his first-team debut as early as this month.
Harry Charsley is a 19-year-old central midfielder who has been on fire for the Toffees’ under-18 side this season, scoring five goals in four appearances to date and looking every inch a future first-team star.
Also able to play on either wing, Charsley’s innate talent and work rate suggest it is only a matter of time before Everton manager Ronald Koeman gives him a chance from the bench and despite going strong in the previous round against Yeovil, the match against Norwich City would be the perfect opportunity.
Koeman has shown in the past that he is not afraid to give youth a chance, and Charsley’s continuing great form for Everton’s second string deserves a call-up and a few minutes late on against the Canaries if things are going according to plan.
Charsley’s time will come, but as young players have shown in the past, when they on fire for the under-21s or under-23s, they can sometimes take that form straight into the first-team and should not be overlooked on age alone.
