Everton want Vitesse shot-stopper Eloy Room – but PSV want him to replace Crystal Palace-linked goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet.
You can see why a move to the Premier League would appeal to Vitesse Arnhem goalkeeper Eloy Room. Having spent the entirety of his professional career in Holland, the 28-year-old could be tempted by the prospect of bigger wages, more exposure and potential European football.
And with Joel Robles seemingly certain to depart before the end of the transfer window after rejecting a new contract at Goodison Park, the Liverpool Echo reports that Everton have identified Room as a possible replacement.

In all likeliness, the shot-stopper would battle Maarten Stekelenberg for a place on the bench behind Jordan Pickford, the former Sunderland ‘keeper joining for an initial £25 million this summer (BBC).
However, it appears that Everton have competition. De Telegraaf reported that PSV manager Phillip Cocu has identified two possible replacements for in-demand number one Jeroen Zoet – Room and Heracles ‘keeper Bram Castro.
Zoet, a Dutch international with two Eredivisie titles on his belt, has been heavily linked with a move away from the Phillips Stadium this summer despite being viewed as somewhat error-prone in his homeland.
A Bola (11 August, page 15) reported at the weekend that Crystal Palace had made a £5.5 million bid with manager Frank de Boer desperate for a new glovesman to take the place of the inconsistent Wayne Hennessey.
Zoet has been linked with a move to Palace for quite some time and, with PSV knocked out of the Europa League at the hands of Croatian minnows Osijek recently, it appears the 26-year-old is likely to move on.

And Palace getting their man may have major repercussions for Everton’s desire to land Room this summer. After all, PSV would surely step up their interest in the 28-year-old.
