Everton host Aston Villa at Goodison Park on Saturday.

This weekend sees Everton host Aston Villa at Goodison Park, with the two sides having taken in contrasting campaigns so far.

Everton currently find themselves competing for a place in the top six after making a solid start to the season, despite a tough opening 10 games.

Villa, however, find themselves in the bottom three after a disastrous start which has already seen them swap Tim Sherwood for Remi Garde in the dugout.

Two big players for both teams are youngsters Gerard Deulofeu and Jordan Ayew, with the talented pair having featured in the majority of their side’s games this season.

Who has been better, though? We took a look at the stats to find out.

And surprisingly, the duo are level in the statistics we looked at, with both coming out on top in four areas apiece.

It seems Deulofeu has been the more creative force this season, as he as registered more attempted assists per game and more assists per game.

His dribbling has also been better that Ayew’s, with him enjoying fewer unsuccessful touches per game and winning more contests than the Villa man.

Ayew, though, has been more impressive with his passing than the Spaniard, registering more accurate passes per game as well as more successful final third passes per game.

It seems he has also been more of an attacking threat, having enjoyed more on target scoring attempts per game and a better goals per game ratio.

So then, a dead heat between the two players this time around. Both will be hoping that isn’t the case come Saturday as they seek to secure all three points for their side.
