Everton signed Lewis Gibson from Newcastle United

Everton swooped on Newcastle United last summer to sign highly rated England youth international Lewis Gibson.
Gibson, 17, is still a way off the first team but he has managed to play his way into the under-23 team already.
He has been impressing under-23 boss David Unsworth, who has recently had Gibson captaining the team and he went out of his way to praise the youngster yesterday.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Unsworth raved: “Lewis Gibson has been outstanding.
“He’s got better and better and better and he’s a natural born leader and he’s been captain for the last couple of games.”

Gibson appeared to be a big loss to Newcastle at the time as he was already starring for England’s under-17 side when he left.
He was part of the under-17 team which won the World Cup back in the Autumn, doing so as an Everton player.
Gibson has also made 16 appearances in total for Everton’s under-23s.
The young centre-back is showing signs of being a shrewd acquisition by the Toffees and if he carries on impressing then it won’t be too long until he starts putting pressure on for a first team spot.
