Everton forward Cenk Tosun says that Crystal Palace wanted him in the summer of 2017.

Everton forward Cenk Tosun has told TRT Spor, as translated by FourFourTwo, that he could have joined Crystal Palace in the summer of 2017.

Tosun moved to Everton from Turkish giants Besiktas in the January transfer window for a fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £27 million.

The Turkey international forward started life at Goodison Park slowly, but the 26-year-old is in good form at the moment.

The former Besiktas has now scored four goals in five Premier League starts for the Toffees.

Tosun has revealed that he could have joined Everton’s Premier League rivals and London-based club Palace in the summer of 2017.

“Crystal Palace wanted to sign me during the first half of the season but it didn’t happen,” Tosun told TRT Spor, as translated by FourFourTwo. “I’m glad it didn’t because now I play for a bigger club in the Premier League.”

Palace are struggling for survival in the Premier League at the moment, and the Eagles could go down to the Championship at the end of the season.

Everton’s season has not been great, but the Toffees are now safe and could even up seventh.

The Merseyside outfit have lofty ambitions for the future, and Tosun is at a better club and in a better situation now than he would have been had he joined Palace.
