Long-term Everton absentee Yannick Bolasie has told Everton fans on Twitter he is “buzzing” to be back after returning to Toffees training on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old has been sidelined for almost a year now after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury during a 1-1 draw against Manchester United on December 4 last season.

Now, the former Crystal Palace attacker is nearing a full return after taking a giant leap towards full fitness by taking part in training at Finch Farm, after multiple operations and extensive rehabilitation.

Bolasie, who had made just 15 appearances for the Toffees before suffering the injury, posted on his Twitter account that he was “buzzing” to be back in training after so long out.

Bolasie still has some way to go before he will be allowed to play first-team football again, with his comeback likely to begin with the Toffees’ reserve side when he is deemed fit enough.

Interim boss David Unsworth is set to take charge of his side for the sixth time on Thursday night as the Merseyside club play host to Serie A outfit Atalanta, before travelling to the south coast on Sunday to face Southampton.
