Martin Keown has told BT Sport, during their live coverage of Everton’s match against Apollon Limassol, that Morgan Feeney reminds him of Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher.

Feeney was selected to start for Everton in the Europa League last night, and his performance was highly impressive.

The 18-year-old helped Everton pick up a 3-0 win in Cyprus, and his performance was arguably the pick of the Toffees’ youngsters.

Feeney looked rock solid at the back, as Everton picked up their third consecutive clean sheet.

And Keown had high praise for the youngster after the contest.

The former Arsenal man said: “More the Jamie Carragher school of defending [than Dave Watson], although he’s already quicker! But I thought he outstanding.”

Everton scored their goals against Limassol through a brace from Ademola Lookman and a tidy finish from Nikola Vlasic.

The Toffees’ win in Cyprus was their first in the Europa League throughout the entirety of the campaign, and ensured they moved off the bottom of their group.

Feeney will be hoping that his showing will convince Sam Allardyce to pick him more regularly, but he is unlikely to feature again at the weekend.

Everton are set to take on Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, when Allardyce is set to name a much more experienced line-up than he did last night.
