The Everton youngster has been likened to the former Blues star.
Everton youngster Mason Holgate has insisted to the Daily Mail that he does not compare himself to John Stones.
Stones became a big hit at Goodison Park after joining from Barnsley, developing into a gifted centre-half and making a £50 million move to Manchester City this summer.
Holgate has also come from Barnsley and after impressing in the early stages of this season is expected to develop under Ronald Koeman on Merseyside.
As a result comparisons between the pair have been made, with some Blues fans hoping that Holgate will go on to be even better than the England man.

Holgate, though, says he does not compare himself to the departed star.
“I don’t compare myself to him,” he told the Daily Mail.
“We’re two different players – it’s a coincidence that we’ve come through the same clubs and that.”
“I just try to concentrate on myself and get myself going. I don’t really compare myself to him much now. He’s no different to the rest of the lads who were here helping me out really.”

While Holgate is refusing to compare himself to Stones, Everton will certainly be hoping he can develop as well as he did.
The Manchester City man quickly became a key man at Goodison Park during his time there and despite his failings can still be a top centre-back in future.
If Holgate can develop as well as him and avoid the pitfalls that have caught out Stones, Everton will have another top talent on their hands and potentially a star of the future.
