Lewis Gibson has suggested that he does not regret leaving Newcastle United for Everton, as quoted in The Chronicle.

Gibson left Newcastle for Everton in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by The Liverpool Echo to be worth £6 million.

The 18-year-old left-back had been playing well for the Magpies’ youth team, and the talented and promising youngster has been doing well for the Everton Under-23 side.

The youngster has praised Newcastle, but the left-back has also suggested that he is enjoying himself at Everton and does to regret the switch between the two clubs.

The Chronicle quotes Gibson as saying about Newcastle: “It’s a great club. Since I moved here I haven’t looked back. I loved my time at Newcastle and I am thankful for what they did for me in my seven or eight years there.

“When the time came to move it felt right. I moved to Everton and had success, now on to the next part.”

Gibson added about his time at Everton so far: “It’s crazy but one of the things that brought me here was the pathway they have. The fans are passionate here too.

“It was the right decision so far. I’ve won the double this season. It is time to kick on next season. I am not sure what will happen.”

Progressing to Everton first team

Gibson is only 18 years of age, and it makes sense that the left-back plays for the Everton youth team for now or perhaps go out on loan to a club in the Championship or at the lower end of the Premier League.

It could take the left-back a couple of years or so to establish himself in the Everton first team, but there is no doubt that he has the potential and the talent to do so.
