Everton’s Oumar Niasse scored on his first team recall.
Everton talent Oumar Niasse made his long awaited comeback to the first team last night after being recalled by Ronald Koeman.
Koeman had declined to give Niasse a chance so far this season and tried to loan him out to Crystal Palace, before the deal collapsed on deadline day.
Niasse has played with the under-23s and performed well, and it was no surprise to see him come off the bench against Sunderland and score.
Everton talent Jonjoe Kenny started in the 3-0 victory, and knows Niasse well from the under-23 side.
Kenny told the club’s official website he is thrilled that Niasse was able to seize his opportunity.
Kenny said: “I am made up for Oumar, as well. He has been very patient, worked hard and never let his head go.
“You get your rewards and that he is what he got tonight.”
20-year-old Kenny did well himself to keep a clean sheet, and linked up with new signing Nikola Vlasic on the wing.
Kenny admitted that verbal communication was an issue between the pair, but felt they did well.
He said: “I think Niko was very good, very strong on the ball. I don’t think he could understand what I was saying! But we had a good understanding and did well.”
