Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin was a surprise name among the list of top ten fastest players in the League.

Everton youngster Dominic Calvert-Lewin has clocked the ninth fastest speed of any Premier League player this season. The 20-year-old clocked the speed of 34.62 km per hour (as recorded by Opta, and reported by the Mirror), which is faster than the likes Manchester United youngster Marcus Rashford and Liverpool’s new signing Mohamed Salah.

Former Tottenham fullback Kyle Walker has clocked the fastest speed of any player this season, at 35.16 km per hour closely followed by Kiko Femina of Watford.

Calvert-Lewin featuring on the list might have raised a few eyebrows, but it underlines the importance of the 20-year-old for the upcoming season. Especially after Everton failed to land the striker Ronald Koeman so publicly demanded in the last two weeks of the transfer window.

The England U-21 international was a surprise starter in the game against Manchester City but performed admirably as a target man constantly holding up the ball and using his pace to unsettle the defense of Manchester City. By the sign of things, the Everton manager will hand the former Sheffield United man more opportunities this year, and if he can use his attributes to the effect he did at the Etihad, he could go from strength to strength.
