Everton have some very talented youngsters at their disposal and midfielder Tom Davies has produced some excellent performances during this calendar year.

However, defender Jonjoe Kenny deserves special praise for making the breakthrough into the first-team in difficult circumstances.

Having made just two Premier League appearances prior to this season, Kenny has gone on to establish himself as a regular in the Everton side with Seamus Coleman still out injured.

The 20-year-old was given a start in the 5-2 defeat to Arsenal in October and, although he made some errors on that occasion, he learnt from the occasion and proceeded to step up, especially during David Unsworth’s spell in temporary charge.

Capable of making precisely-timed challenges and also a threat going forwards, Kenny is an excellent prospect and looks set for a very bright future.

His passion for Everton to succeed, having come through the ranks at the club’s academy, is evident and he is a hard working player who is constantly seeking to improve.

There have been some difficult moments for Everton this year, but Kenny’s progression has been a heartwarming sight for the club’s supporters and he should develop even further in 2018.
