Everton are said to be interested in signing Hertha Berlin left-back Marvin Plattenhardt.

Everton struggled to find an option to play on the left-hand side of their defence last term, with Cuco Martina regularly having to cover there.
Martina is a right back, and he struggled badly out of position, with Leighton Baines out injured.

Baines remains a pivotal player for Everton, but at the age of 33 he is now showing signs that his form is dropping, and his injury record means he can hardly be relied upon.
Plattenhardt, on the other hand, has proven that he is one of the most consistent left-backs in the Bundesliga.

The 26-year-old has been called into Germany’s squad for the World Cup, which shows just how highly he is regarded in his homeland.
And if Everton could bring in Plattenhardt to Goodison Park this summer, then Silva could solve an issue which proved to be a major problem for both Ronald Koeman and Sam Allardyce.
