Everton are reportedly keen on the services of Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek.
If Everton’s latest transfer rumours are true then they could be pulling off one of their best deals in recent seasons with Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek tipped for a move to Goodison Park.
According to Marcel van der Kraan on the Sky Sports Transfer Talk Podcast, Everton have scouted the 22-year-old and it is likely that he will be leaving Holland with Everton one of the clubs keen on his services.
Last season, Everton finished in the top-eight in Marco Silva’s first season in charge and there’s no doubt that they will be searching for Europa League football next term.
But if they can pull off a potential deal for Van de Beek then Everton should forget about just a top-seven finish because they would be making a serious challenge for those top-four places.
Ajax reached the Champions League semi-finals last term and the Dutch club, who also won the Eredivisie title, impressed many with their performances.
Van de Beek was one of those top performers in the middle of the park for Ajax and Everton would do seriously well to get hold of his signature considering they can’t offer him European football, at this moment in time.
But putting into mind Everton’s pulling power, both in terms of the size of the club and financially, they shouldn’t completely rule out a potential stunning deal taking place.
If that does happen, and Silva can bring in his much-needed centre-forward this summer, then Everton will be a force to be reckoned with when the new campaign kicks off in August.
If you add into the fact that Eden Hazard-less Chelsea are under a transfer embargo and Manchester United and Arsenal are sinking in a rapid fashion, finishing above those teams may well just happen next term.
